YEAY!
Travellers from Malaysia and Singapore will soon have the luxury of requesting their taxi pick-up and drop-off points anywhere within their domestic locations. Currently, taxis plying the Johor – Singapore route were only authorised to pick-up and drop-off passengers at designated stops in Johor and Singapore. With this liberalisation, commuters will no longer be forced to only commute between Johor's Kotaraya terminal and Singapore's Queen Street taxi stop near Rochor Road. The new policies will also see more cross border bus services deployed between the various terminals, for example Larkin Bus Terminal, Johor Bahru and Ban San Street in Singapore.
Enhanced Cross-Border Travel Convenience | eNewsletter @Nusajaya
Hi, I'm also an expat working in Singapore and plan to live in Johor, for the much cheaper and better quality of life. However, I have a concern about my passport. When I enter and leave JB everyday, that means I will have 2 stamps on my passport each day. There are 48 pages for my passport, that means I need to renew my passport about every 4 months. For the renewal of my passport in Singapore, it takes about 2 to 3 weeks. During these period, I need to stay in Singapore, maybe in a hotel. I know there's something called MACS (a sticker on the passport so that no stamp is needed). However, it's only for Singaporean, but not PR or EP holder!!! Do you have any idea to solve this problem? (of course I don't want to spend lots of SG$ for staying in Singapore hotel every 4 monhts!)
ReplyDeleteHello Liu,
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading my blog. If you invest in the Iskandar region (e.g. purchase a house), you can apply for MACs. You can read more about this process in my previous blog article: http://expatjohor.blogspot.com/2010/10/singapore-johor-commute.html
I'm a Singaporean PR and I do hold MACs pass.
Cheers,
Erika
Hi Erika,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! Actually I've bought a flat in Bukit Indah already, and the flat will be ready this July. So I will try to get the MACS for me and my wife, according to your experience! Hopefully we can get it!
Cheers,
Joseph

Erika
