Marlborough College is 80% complete and set to open in Educity Aug 2012

I read an article today that Marlborough college is about 80% complete and is set to open shop in August. This is not a new piece of news, but it's interesting to know that the school has increased school fee even before school starts. Perhaps the school fees are pegged to the % of construction completion and when completion reaches 100%, school fees will be increased again :) I believe the annual school fee for year 1 (for 6 years old) is now 58K RM, which is more than my university annual fee. I guess private education never comes cheap. Having said that, I wish nothing but the best to the school , parents and students.

Last not but least, FYI for parents living in Singapore who are sending their kids to Marlborough in Johor, I also read this in Marlborough's site:

"Following the most recent discussions with Malaysian Government officials, the Ministry of Immigration and IRDA (Iskandar Regional Development Authority), we are pleased to inform you that the use of a fast track green lane and children being allowed to stay on the bus, to assist a safe and secure passage through customs and immigration, are viewed by all as the best way forward.

However, it is with disappointment that we have to report that the latest discussions have not resulted in the outcome we had hoped for with regard to passports. Pupils will be required to carry their passports, although we are investigating MACs and student passes to ensure that passports are not stamped. All passports will be looked after by Marlborough College Malaysia's adult representative".

Looking forward to welcoming Princess Kate's visit in Johor during Marlborough opening ceremony.

Have a great weekend everyone.

TGIF Friday

Thank God it's the weekend! It's been a while since I last went to a TGIF Friday's restaurant. I didn't realise that there's also a branch in Johor until our friends took us there last night. We had good meals and relaxing time, so it was a great way to kick-start the weekend.

The restaurant has been around for a long time, though the interior is not new, it provides a nice ambience for a relaxing dinner with friends and families.

We ordered quite a no of items:
Beef tacos:

Osso buco:

Lamb cutlets:

French onion soup:

Mix platter starter:

Buffalo wings:

+ drinks and desserts
The dinner cost ~340RM, which I think is quite reasonably priced given the amount of food we ordered. The food was also quite nice, so I would go back again :)

Malaysia Real Estate Prices & Rentals Stabilising

This is a very interesting article which gives good insights into Malaysian real estate market. The article makes no mention of East Ledang, Ledang Heights and Leisure Farm which have seen property prices skyrocketed due to influx of foreign buyers.

"Johor's property market performed well last year, with 52,946 transactions worth RM17.1bil. Compared with 2010, Johor's property market volume and value increased by 9.1% and 44.6% respectively. The report says Johor's residential property prices are generally stable with instances of mixed performance.

Single-storey terraced houses within areas in Johor such as Taman Puteri Wangsa, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Taman Bukit Indah and Taman Perling see price increases of 2.9% to 11.1%, with prices ranging from RM125,000 to RM220,000. Houses in areas within Nusajaya such as Taman Nusa Idaman and Horizon Hills record price increases of 6.4% to 9.1%, with prices ranging from RM392,000 to RM448,000".

Angsana Spa Opened in East Ledang Clubhouse

Great news for everyone! Angsana Spa has finally opened on Sunday, 1st April 2012 (not an April fool joke). Angsana is a sister company of the renowned luxury villa brand and spa, Banyan Tree. The spa is located in the East Ledang/Ledang Heights clubhouse and is open from 10 am to 10 pm everyday.

You can view the spa menu in their website. I tried the Dreams 90 minutes message today and I was in heaven :) It's such a nice way to end the day after spending 3 hours driving in traffic today! Their service was excellent and the masseur was very good (Indonesian lady called Atika). There will also be an opening special promotion of 50% off from 15th to 30th of April, so it's more than worth it and I totally recommend visiting this spa.
